Presented By LISA LARSON, LMFT
Founder of the Pacific Trauma Center and Pacific Brainspotting Trainings

This is a presentation on “Brainspotting”, a cutting edge, mindfulness and brain-based therapy to heal trauma in a powerful way. Symptoms of unprocessed trauma, which include chronic anxiety, numbing, and disassociation, are notoriously difficult to eliminate through talk therapy alone, since the overwhelmed brain is unable to process verbal information about the events.

But Brainspotting - a brain-based method of clearing and releasing unresolved trauma without the client having to talk about it - nurtures the client’s innate capacity for self-healing in a profound way. As an EMDR-trained therapist, Lisa was astonished at the power of this focused treatment for trauma that works by identifying, processing, and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional and body pain, trauma, dissociation, and a variety of other challenging symptoms. She found that her clients responded better, and more quickly, to Brainspotting

David Grand, PhD, discovered Brainspotting (BSP) in 2003 after spending years training clinicians in EMDR. He is the author of “Emotional Healing on Warp Speed” and “Brainspotting.”

Goal: To introduce the revolutionary brain-based method of clearing and releasing unresolved trauma without the client having to talk about it, which nurtures their innate capacity for self-healing in a profound way.

Objectives: Through lecture, a live demonstration, and a short practicum, participants will learn to do the following:

  • Understand the components of Brainspotting
  • Define how Brainspotting can be applied to Trauma, Disassociation, Somatic conditions, and Anxiety/Performance Anxiety
  • Demonstrate the theories and practices of Brainspotting
  • Understand how this powerful modality can integrate into your current practice and increase your effectiveness with clients suffering with the issues mentioned above.

Lisa Larson, LMFT

Founder of the Pacific Trauma Center
and Pacific Brainspotting Trainings

Lisa Larson has been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for over twenty years. After seven years in private practice doing cognitive-behavioral and Solution Focused “talk therapy” Lisa had a life-altering event that changed the course of her life and transformed her therapeutic orientation. In 2005, both she and her son clinically died from two different allergic reactions three weeks apart. While both are alive today, Lisa was acutely traumatized and had a classic case of PTSD. No amount of talk therapy brought relief. As Lisa continued to train in the most powerful trauma modalities, she, and her traumatized clients, healed quickly and permanently. She learned that her years as a talk therapist were missing the most crucial piece required to heal those with simple or severe trauma: The Body. With complex trauma and PTSD, a person is enslaved by their own neurophysiology. True healing requires releasing the individual from the trapped body memories that trigger chronic flight/flight/fawn or numb/freeze responses. No amount of talking or praying can remove the body’s relentless hold on the traumatized.

In 2012, Lisa opened Pacific Counseling and Trauma Center and Pacific Trauma Specialists, a non-profit center dedicated to offering the most cutting edge trauma modalities to anyone who suffers. She hired the best trauma clinicians in the world to train her staff in releasing trauma from the body, mind, heart, and spirit. She is passionate about letting the world know that trauma and PTSD are not something you have to live with and that freedom is possible.

Soon afterward, Lisa became a Trainer for Brainspotting International, a revolutionary trauma therapy that was developed by David Grand. She will focus her presentation on this exciting new technique.
