May Private Practice SIG

The purpose of the SDNC-CAMFT Private Practice SIG is to provide a forum where those who own or manage a business that provides mental health and psychotherapy services to the community can discuss issues and concerns about operating their business. Topics for discussion include (but are not limited to) managing your client records and business income with software, maintaining a paperless practice, financial management and tax considerations, efficient methods of scheduling clients and calendaring, using health insurance to generate client referrals and income, and using forms and assessment tools to efficiently document client contacts. The SIG is open to all mental health practitioners, both licensed and pre-licensed, CAMFT members and non-members. No RSVP is necessary--just show up. Anyone coming to a meeting has walked away having learned something new!

Meeting theme: What Happens on Monday morning? -- Living Wills and Contingency Planning. Suppose you take a well-deserved vacation out of the country. Suddenly you find yourself quarantined in a hospital with a transmittable illness. How do you tell your clients that you may not be seeing them soon? Or worse, you die! Do you have a living will for your clients to receive care after your death? How will someone access your records if they are stored electronically (e.g. on Simple Practice)? Come and speak with other clinicians about how they prepare for unplanned time away from private practice or the inevitable reality of our own death.
