Commitment to Diversity

At SDNC-CAMFT, we are committed to seeking out a variety of voices, perspectives within our chapter community and the community at large and uplifting them. We are committed to ensuring that we are looking inward at how we function as a board and as a chapter to be more aware of our biases and to be active in dismantling systems of privilege and oppression.


SDNC-CAMFT Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scholarship

At SDNC-CAMFT, we are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive mental health community. To honor this commitment, we are proud to introduce the SDNC-CAMFT Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Scholarship. This scholarship supports students and associates in training who demonstrate a dedication to DEI values and are pursuing a career in the field of marriage and family therapy.

Scholarship Award

Recipients will receive a $400 scholarship to assist with educational costs, professional development, or other expenses related to their training in marriage and family therapy.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

1. Be a current student or associate in training in the field of marriage and family therapy.

2. Demonstrate financial need.

3. Exhibit a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in their academic, clinical, or community work.

4. Be a member or plan to become a member of SDNC-CAMFT.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit:

  1. A completed application form.
  2. A current resume or CV.
  3. A personal statement (500 words max) addressing:
  • Your passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion in mental health.
  • How this scholarship will support your educational and professional goals.

4. One letter of recommendation from a supervisor, professor, or mentor who can speak to your commitment to DEI and your potential in the field.

Deadline

Applications must be submitted by April 1st. Recipients will be announced by April 15. 

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed by the SDNC-CAMFT Scholarship Committee. Recipients will be selected based on their alignment with the scholarship’s mission, financial need, and dedication to advancing DEI in the field of mental health.

We are currently accepting applications for the Board of Directors for the 2024-2025 year. Applications for the 2025-2026 year will be available Spring 2025.

Voting for the 2025-2026 will take place at our June 2025 chapter meeting where chapter members will have the chance to vote on a slate of Board of Directors.
