Presentation Description
Based on his ground breaking book, Safe to Love Again: How to Release the Pain of Past Relationships and Create the Love You Deserve, Dr. Salyer will give a detailed and practical overview of his new theory of attachment, which is based on Neo-Reichian developmental psychology, neuroscience, attachment theory and couples research. Therapists will discover the four secure feelings given in early childhood that create secure attachment and which must be present in adult relationships for couples to feel loved. We ’ll also uncover the six “rights” or emotional templates for future relationships that allow the “masters” of lasting relationships to respond to each other in attuned ways. Therapists will learn how painful relationship patterns are based on “missing rights” and learn specific techniques to restore “missing rights.” By paying attention to the presence or absence of these four secure feelings and the six “rights”, therapists will improve their understanding and healing capabilities of underlying attachment problems in coupled relationships.
Objectives
1. Identify three attachment styles.
2. Identify the four secure reference feelings that our brains learn by the age of three.
3. Identify the six rights, or emotional templates, for creating future relationships.
Presenter Bio
Dr. Gary Salyer is a transformational relationship mentor who helps both singles and couples re-write the rules for love in their brains. He is the author of the book, Safe to Love Again: How to Release the Pain of Past Relationships and Create the Love You Deserve. In this groundbreaking book on attachment theory, Dr. Salyer answers the question “how does a securely attached brain create lasting love?” Safe to Love Again goes beyond traditional attachment books by offering sensible ways to reclaim the secure love style that everyone deserves.
By blending his new theory of attachment with a very deep form of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Bert Hellinger ’s Family Systems work and neuroscience, Dr. Salyer helps couples change their painful patterns and begin to truly feel loved. He integrates many kinds of couples training into his new model of attachment therapy, including Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Relational Life Therapy (Terry Real), Collaborative Couple Therapy (Dan Wile), Internal Family Systems (Richard Schwartz) and others like Dan Siegel. Dr. Salyer speaks to a national audience as a featured expert on various podcasts as well as cable TV and radio shows such as Hay House Radio and Coast to Coast AM.
