Meeting Description:

Designed for Mental Health Professionals, this 75-min presentation will discuss general CAMFT issues and the importance of a Professional Will. There will also be updates from BBS, as well as California and Federal legislative updates. Finally, there will be discussion on why it is important to avail yourself of the Legal Consultation service provided by CAMFT.

Meeting Goals:
  1. Discuss general CAMFT issues and the importance of a Professional Will. 
  2. Provide updates from BBS, as well as California and Federal legislative updates.
  3. Discuss why it is important to avail yourself of the Legal Consultation service CAMFT provides.

  1. Recall at least 3 recent/pending legislations and how marriage and family therapists may be impacted by the bills. 
  2. Identify 1 resource for legal consultation for therapists.
  3. Identify important components of a Professional Will.

About the Speaker:  Dr. Nabil El-Ghoroury, Executive Director at CAMFT

Nabil El-Ghoroury began as Executive Director of CAMFT in January 2018. He completed his doctorate in clinical psychology from Binghamton University, and practiced for 7 years at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland as a licensed psychologist. Prior to coming to CAMFT, he was an Associate Executive Director for the American Psychological Association, where he served as the director of the graduate student office. Nabil was recognized as an emerging association leader by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) when he was invited into the Diversity Executive Leadership Program (2016-2018 class). He has presented at numerous conferences (in English and in Spanish) on issues such as student development in psychology, professional and legal issues in the use of social media, and health/educational disparities in autism spectrum disorders. Nabil led student delegations on Capitol Hill for 8 years. He recently earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential, a certification that demonstrates wide knowledge of association management skills.



TARGET AUDIENCE:  Licensed and Prelicensed clinicians and educators. 

This course meets the qualifications for 1.0 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.  SDNC-CAMFT CEP#128622

SDNC-CAMFT is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and/or LEPs. CEP#128622. SDNC-CAMFT maintains responsibility for this program/course and its content.

Following the event, Course Completion Certificates will be emailed to each participant who has completed sign in and sign out procedures at the event.
