Come nourish your mind, body, and spirit at a Self-care Therapist Retreat at the California Center for Creative Renewal on Saturday, April 4 from noon-5 pm. Pre-registration for this event is required.
Immerse yourself in nature at this beautiful and unique location as you enjoy a catered lunch and creative activities led by noted expressive art therapist, Ellen Speert. The retreat is designed to offer much needed respite from the stresses of daily life and the opportunity to get to know each other better. The event will be held outdoors so please dress accordingly in comfortable clothes and walking shoes (no high heels). Join us at 1905 Crest Drive in Encinitas for this special afternoon.
This retreat is only open to members and significantly subsidized by the SDNC Chapter. The cost to members is $20 each with lunch, drinks, snacks and supplies provided for three facilitated creative activities. Capacity is limited and attendees are admitted based on those who register first.
The lunch provided will accommodate most dietary styles and includes salads, chicken, bread, fresh fruit and juice and tea. Please contact email@example.com no later than Friday, March 27, if you have concerns about dietary restrictions.
Note: There will be no CEUs offered for this event. If necessary, a rain date is identified for the following Saturday, April 11.
We will not be holding our regular Chapter meeting on the third Friday of the month, April 18.
About the Director: Ellen Speert ATR-BC, REAT
Ellen Speert is director of the California Center for Creative Renewal, a therapeutic retreat center based on our connection to nature and specializing in creativity, women’s issues, spirituality and loss since 1981. Ellen has been invited to present workshops all over the world, from Paris to Istanbul, from Lima to Helsinki. She is past president of the San Diego Art Therapy Association and active with the American Art Therapy Association as well as the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association.
For over 40 years, Ms. Speert has been involved in the field of Art Therapy, conducting workshops and publishing professional journal articles and book chapters. She has designed and directed postgraduate art therapy programs at UCSD Extension and National University, and has provided training and supervision to therapists throughout the US and in Europe, Asia and South America. Her work has appeared in many newspapers, magazines, on radio and TV, and she has won numerous awards as a public speaker. Ms. Speert is an exhibiting artist and avid gardener.
