Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples: From Foundation to Application to Results

Speaker: Dr. Mark A. Kaupp, LMFT

Sponsor: Oak Tree Mediation

Pre-registration is required.

This workshop is as an introductory course on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples. EFT is the most empirically supported form of couple therapy. Studies show that 70-75% of couples working with an EFT therapist move from relationship distress to recovery during the course of therapy. Approximately 90% show significant improvements. The results of EFT therapy tend to be robust and long lasting, something that other modalities of couple therapy cannot claim.

In this workshop, participants will learn how the model was created, the theoretical underpinnings organizing the treatment, the steps and stages of its application and how it is applied to specific presenting issues by couples such as: affairs, intimate partner violence, same-gender couples, etc…

Dr. Mark A. Kaupp, LMFT and a certified EFT therapist, supervisor and trainer is also an adjunct professor in both AIU and SDSU’s COAMFTE approved graduate programs teaching Couple Therapy. He has a private practice in San Diego, conducts many seminars and training's on the effective application of EFT and was featured on CBS’ 48 Hours as the primary EFT therapist working with a couple in creating a more loving relationship.

Additionally, Dr. Kaupp has a specific specialty focusing on Same-Gender couples and EFT. He was a presenter at the 2010 EFT Summit presenting on how to effectively apply the EFT process with Same-Sex couples and the specific issues therapists need to know when working with the LGBTQ+ populations. More information on Dr. Kaupp can be found on his website at www.DrKauppTherapy.com.
