Speaker: Martha Hoffer Teater, LMFT
Pre-registration is required.
Treating people who’ve gone through trauma can be a challenge. You may feel profound empathy, but without targeted skills your outcomes may be lackluster. The benefits of treatment can be powerful, both short-term and long-term. Learn the most advanced, specialized, and evidence-supported techniques for treating trauma.
You’ll know that you are using approaches that receive the highest ratings from the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare, US Department of Justice, Kaufman Best Practices Task Force, Agency for Health Care Policy and Research, FDA, APA, WHO, UNICEF, United Nations, International Red Cross, CDC, SAMHSA, Green Cross Academy of Traumatology, and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
You’ll learn about treatment models that work for people with complex trauma, co-occurring substance use disorders, and tools for children, teens, and adults. We’ll cover solid screening and assessment instruments, the stress inoculation model, the 3-stage consensus approach, and post-traumatic growth. We’ll also load you up with what you need to know to build a trauma-informed culture in your practice and workplace. You will gain expertise in using the new DSM-5 for trauma-related diagnoses and enhance your ability to practice ethical trauma care.
Build your skills and know that your ability to assess and treat trauma is based on powerful strategic interventions. Sharpen your treatment of trauma with proven approaches that have a solid track record of success. These takeaways will make you a strong and effective clinician with cutting-edge trauma treatment skills.
